Living tradition
An authentic transmission of the Sakya Dzongpa lineage, upheld by qualified masters and rooted in more than five centuries of monastic practice.
Dzongpa Europa is a cultural and spiritual project dedicated to preserving and sharing the teachings of the Dzongpa lineage, a sub-tradition of the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism.
Through the Dzongpa Cultural Association, we seek to create the conditions for Dharma study, meditation practice, the organization of teachings, the invitation of masters, and the living transmission of Tibetan culture and the Dzongpa lineage in Europe.
What sustains our work
An authentic transmission of the Sakya Dzongpa lineage, upheld by qualified masters and rooted in more than five centuries of monastic practice.
Guided meditation, Dharma study, and teachings open to people from all backgrounds, whether or not they are Buddhist practitioners.
A space for encounter, volunteering, and collaboration, so that together we may support the preservation of the lineage and the benefit of beings.
His Eminence the VI Gongkar Dorje Dhenpa Rinpoche, Tenzin Jampal Lungtok Namgyal, is the Supreme Head of the Dzongpa lineage of the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Recognized in 1989 by His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama, trained at Sakya College in Dehradun, and enthroned by the 41st Sakya Trichen, he dedicates his life to preserving the lineage and benefiting beings.
A longer history than it may seem
The presence of the Sakya Dzongpa lineage in Spain arose from the encounter between Rinpoche and Kunga Tsondru —José Manuel Sánchez— at Sakya College in Dehradun, India. In 2012, Rinpoche gave the first teachings at the Sakya Foundation in Pedreguer, Alicante, accompanied by Venerable Khyentse-la, under the spiritual presence of His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trichen.
Those teachings planted the seeds of what would later become the Dzongpa Cultural Association, and today, the Dzongpa Europa project.
The Sakya Dzongpa lineage, from the root monastery to new communities
Every contribution, large or small, helps create the conditions for Tibetan culture and the teachings of the Dharma to flourish in Europe.
